SHFL appoints new online chief
Nick Gabriel to oversee online operations at newly established Gibraltar hub after B2B supplier gains licence in the jurisdiction.
SHFL Entertainment has appointed former Mansion head of product development Nick Gabriel as the new head of its online gaming division.
Based out of the gaming supplier’s new Gibraltar office, Gabriel will oversee the online B2B operations throughout Europe. SHFL has also announced it has received a remote gambling license from the Government of Gibraltar Licensing Authority.
A qualified accountant, Gabriel previously served as president of online social gaming platform Duelring, for almost three year and spent five years at internet gaming operator Mansion as head of product strategy and development.
Gavin Isaacs, SHFL’s CEO, said of the appointment: “Our investments in our interactive division support our goal of establishing SHFL as a leading go-to supplier of online and mobile casino gaming products, leveraging our relationships and replicating our success with our land-based business.
“Our leading-edge technology and growing portfolio of compelling content, coupled with the recent addition of Nick Gabriel to our team, moves us one step closer to that goal.”
Shuffle Master announced it was to change its name to SHFL Entertainment with immediate effect last month, a move designed to reflect the company’s broadening range of products, including egaming.
The company looked to be positioning itself for an assault on the egaming industry after agreeing to acquire the bwin.party-owned Ongame poker network earlier this year. At the time Isaacs explained: “Poker is a natural fit for our table-centric online offerings and our many jurisdictional licenses present a compelling opportunity for our current and future online customers.”
However the deal fell through in June with Isaacs citing lower-than-expected revenues from Ongame’s European operations as the primary reason for pulling out. Ongame was subsequently acquired by Amaya Gaming Group for a total cash consideration of up to 25m.
Elsewhere SHFL has already received its online poker licence in Nevada with its technology currently undergoing checks with the Silver State’s independent testing labs.
