Betway sponsors Mirror Fantasy Football
Three-year deal will see players able to access Maltese operator's egaming services.

Malta-based egaming operator Betway has been named as the sponsor of British newspaper group Trinity Mirror’s fantasy football game for the 2012/13 Premier League season that kicked off last weekend.
The sponsorship deal also covers the following two seasons with players taking part in the free game “ which boasts a prize pool of £100,000 “ able to enter up to four additional teams by placing a £10 bet with Betway.
As part of the deal, part of a wider multi-million pound media campaign, visitors to a number of Trinity Mirror sites including Mirror Online, the Manchester Evening News and Wales Online will receive direct access to Betway’s online gambling services.
Players will be able to bet directly from the fantasy football platform where live odds from Betway will be displayed.
Betway group managing director Richard Akitt said: “We believe we have the fastest, most innovative and easy-to-use fantasy football game in the market. Our site enables customers to seamlessly update their fantasy football team and place bets all within the same site.”
Akitt added that the company is set to follow the announcement with “A series of high-profile promotions over the coming months that will engage the football fans and punters.”
The deal with Trinity Mirror comes just weeks after Betway released a mobile sports betting app for the UK market, available to download from the Apple App Store, however the application will have no link to the fantasy football offering.
Betway, which holds licences in a number of regulated markets including in Denmark, is the latest gaming company to enter the fantasy football market following software company FSB’s deal with UK free newspaper Metro for the 2010 World Cup which has since evolved into the newspaper’s annual Premier League fantasy football version.
