Fabulous Bingo ad banned by ASA
Gamesys white-label reprimanded for linking gambling with seduction and sexual success on recent TV advert.

Fabulous Bingo, one of Gamesys’ bingo white-labels launched with newspaper publisher News International, has seen its recent television advertisement banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The ad, which involves “[an] initially dowdy-looking character [being] transformed into a glamorous-looking model,” after signing up to a Fabulous Bingo account, was ruled to have “Directly linked the online bingo game with enhanced attractiveness.”
The bingo site had argued the character’s change “Was intended to be attributable to the fabulous brand, a fashion and lifestyle magazine, which was all about transformation,” however the authority upheld the complaint against the advert and ruled that it should not appear again in its current form.
It is the third egaming-related ad this year to be banned on grounds of linking gambling with seduction, following an advertisement for 888’s Poker Cams product in February, and a Netplay ad in May.
Fabulous Bingo is one of several bingo brands launched via Gamesys’ partnerships, with other white-label partners including another News International brand in newspaper The Sun as well as UK radio station Heart FM.
Gamesys also launched an online bingo offering for Caesars Interactive Entertainment in 2010, while it provides the Caesars online casino in the UK.
