Product review: Endemol Games' Million Pound Drop slot
This month customer experience and web analytics specialist Foviance reviews Endemol Games' new slot based on the hit Channel 4 gameshow.

You may be forgiven for thinking that certain European governments had been using this as a part of their economic planning, however, this is eGaming Review not the Financial Times, so we’ll stick to the facts. The Million Pound Drop Slot (MPDS) is a faithful reproduction of the TV show experience in slot format.
In its fifth series, Million-Pound Drop is turning into the next Millionaire. For the uninitiated, Million-Pound drop gives the player £1m in notes and they have eight rounds to keep as much as they can. The twist is that wrong answers see the money physically disappear into the table. The slot version has already been picked up by a number of providers and it sits quite nicely alongside the other Endemol experiences of Deal, or No Deal and Big Brother.
MPDS main gameplay is fairly straightforward, no messing slots. Both free and paytable are available but we couldn’t find any free options out there. Twenty bet lines are available with minimum bet of 5p, so £1 a roll for the full experience. There are two bonus games and ‘Golden Wilds’, which generate 4 extra wilds, which can pay out well and the lines use ‘cash’ bundles and ‘AKQJ’.
So, how is MPDS different to other slots? The key differentiator is, of course, the tie-in to the Million-Pound Drop as the game looks to entice fans of the show. The use of graphics and sound from the live show has been well integrated and you do get a good flavour of the flavour of the show, the only things missing are Davina’s voice and the security guards!
The real reason for playing MPDS is to get to play one of the two bonus rounds; ‘Security Pass’ and the eponymous ‘Million Pound Drop’ bonus.
The Security Pass bonus (pictured) is activated by three Security Pass symbols which move you into the mini-game. Click the ‘cash’ bundles before they hit the bottom of the screen to get free spins. Quick, easy and satisfying this is good fun and adds a satisfying experience which is worth winning
The Million Drop bonus is activated by hitting three Million Drop symbols. The bonus game takes you straight to the Drop table and lets you progress through eight rounds of play. You allocate cash to one of four tables and as long as you keep winning you keep playing. Waiting for your money to drop does make for great entertainment and the short pause before the actual drop adds an element of suspense.
The overall experience is what you would expect with mini-games relevant to the Million Drop experience. If you watch Million Drop and can’t wait for the next series then this will keep you busy and entertained, win or lose.
The slots do their job and the reviewers were happy with it. Experienced slot players found
Million Drop slots provided a playable and enjoyable experience with longevity coming from interesting bonus rounds. Well done Endemol.
