
Gaming Edge hires senior associates
Kathryn Loewen and Rob Gallo join consultancy as it looks to expand its client base in the soon-to-be regulated US market.

Two highly experienced senior associates have joined specialist gaming consultancy Gaming Edge Associates.
Kathryn Loewen, who previously worked for US-facing and former US-facing poker networks Merge Gaming and Cereus respectively, and Rob Gallo, a former CEO with 15 years’ experience in operating and marketing online gambling companies have both joined the independent organisation.
Both senior associates will work with Gaming Edge as the consultancy looks to expand into the US and “continues striving to deliver the highest quality service”, according to a statement by the company this morning.
Ben Fried, partner and founder of Gaming Edge and former head of poker at Betfair, said: “Kathryn and Rob compliment Gaming Edge immensely with their wealth of knowledge of the US market, with Kathryn bringing her expertise in online payment processing and with Rob bringing his board level experience in developing and managing successful eGaming businesses”.
Loewen has experience in successfully developing ecommerce systems in challenging markets and holds a high level of understanding within risk management, ID verification systems and payments operations, Gaming Edge said.
Loewen said she was looking forward to forming a “dynamic and flexible partnership” with Gaming Edge, “developing a mutually beneficial relationship and building this highly creative business. I am excited by our ability to offer a well-rounded and truly top class service,” she added.
Gallo launched Omni Casino in 1997, Cryptologic’s first licensee, and founded SunPoker.com which 85% of its revenue following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act in 2006. Gallow sold the business in 2010 and now works on a number of projects within online gaming.
Gaming Edge Associates works with a number of large gambling clients in Europe and the US, often on sensitive strategic projects and long-term advisory roles. Past client projects include Betfair, 888, PKR, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Chartwell, Boylesports and Cyberarts.
