Bill passes 61-9 " will now be put in front of State Senate.

The anti-gambling legislation introduced by Utah Representative Stephen Sandstrom has passed a House Committee vote, and will now be sent to the State Senate.
Sandstrom’s HB108 bill was submitted for an initial reading on 31 January, aiming to block egaming in the Beehive State even if California congressman John Campbell’s federal HR1174 bill, the Internet Gambling, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act, is passed into law.
61 members of the House voted in favour of the bill, with only nine voting against, and five abstentions. The bill will now be passed to the Senate Rules Committee for a first reading, where if passed it could be signed into law.
Utah and Hawaii are the only two US states which currently ban all forms of gambling, despite the introduction of a bill to regulate gambling in Hawaii after the failure of a bill introduced last March.
