Iowa subcommittee approves bill
Online gambling at Hawkeye State casinos moves one step closer.

Iowa Senator Jeff Danielson’s egaming study bill has passed unanimously through the subcommittee stage and will now progress to a full committee.
Senate Study Bill 3164 would allow casinos and other gambling establishments in the Hawkeye State to offer state residents the opportunity to create accounts and gamble online within their premises.
According to the Des Moines Register, Iowa casinos including Prairie Meadows and Riverside Casino have come out in support of the bill, which was drawn up following December’s report into the potential impact of egaming in the state.
The bill received fast-track consideration ahead of the ‘funnel’ deadline for state lawmakers to consider new legislative proposals.
A three-man subcommittee including Danielson, fellow Democrat Wally Horn and Republican Rick Bertrand all approved the bill yesterday afternoon.
