Bwin.party relaunches Pokerroom.com
Poker site was closed down in 2009 after running for a decade.

Bwin.party-owned poker site Pokerroom.com has relaunched after a near three-year hiatus, the operator has confirmed.
First launched in 1999, the site was operational for 10 years before closing its doors in April 2009, with players encouraged to migrate to bwin at that time.
The branding on the site seems to imply a dot.com-only operation, although bwin.party has yet to publicly rule out launching dot.country versions under one or more of its licences in regulated jurisdictions.
A spokesman for bwin.party told eGaming Review: “We were using the Pokerroom.com name as an affiliate and it had started to pull in traffic so we then decided to switch it back on – it literally was a case of simply flicking the switch.
“It’s essentially a soft-launch at the moment and we will see what happens from there on in. We’re testing the waters to see what level of interest there is,” he added.
The site was part of the Ongame network in its original incarnation, and eGaming Review understands that this will not change despite bwin.party’s noted intention to dispose of the network.
A spokesperson for bwin.party was unable to comment further at this time.
