
News in brief: Playtech completes PTTS acquisition; Betdaq in Celtic partnership
Playtech completes the acquisition of the Europartners holding company, first reported by eGaming Review in March.

Playtech has completed its 280m (£240m) acquisition of founder Teddy Sagi’s PT Turnkey Services Limited (PTTS) first reported by eGaming Review in early March this year. Integration of the holding company for Europartners, one of the largest affiliate programmes in egaming, into Playtech is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2011.
Betdaq has become the official online betting partner of Scottish football club Celtic, the betting exchange announced this morning. Throughout the 2011/12 season, Betdaq will work with Celtic to offer fans the best odds on matches and special bets on other sporting events, it said. The exchange will benefit from promotion on the official Celtic website as well as a branding presence at the club’s 60,000-capacity stadium in Glasgow.
WorldSpreads has seen revenues from its continuing operations (excluding IT revenue) increase by 25% year-on-year, but recorded an operating loss of 0.64m before stock option compensation, the company has revealed in its results for the year ended 31 March. Revenues rose from 12.89m (£11.33m) to 16.07m (£14.12m), however the spreadbetting firm saw its marketing spend rise by 455% over the same period, from 580,000 (£510,000) to 3.22m (£2.83m). Last month, WorldSpreads appointed former EU commissioner Charlie McCreevy as a non-executive director.
After launching its new bingo platform last month, Costa Bingo operator Mandalay Gaming Holdings has received a gaming licence from the Isle of Man. The decision from the island comes just 12 weeks after Mandalay’s application was made, and the company’s co-founder Richard Skelhorn said “The Isle of Man Government has provided excellent service and assistance throughout the whole process.”
Chartwell Technology has announced the launch of its online casino product with Malta-licenced Win United. Under the terms of the multi-year deal, content from Canadian developer Chartwell – including games employing its non-download Rapid Game Deployment technology – will be made available on Win United’s YouWin.com and SportsBook.com brands.
Simon Thomas, non-executive director of Praesepe has resigned from the board with immediate effect, the company has announced.
