FULL Tilt Poker has signed a sponsorship deal with Formula 1 racing team Virgin Racing ahead of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix, the companies have announced.
Team Full Tilt’s Chris Ferguson said: “Full Tilt Poker.Net partnering with Virgin Racing is a brilliant culmination of a great deal of thought and effort on behalf of both brands.”
However images of the chassis of team driver Timo Glock’s VR-01 car seen ahead of this weekend’s Grand Prix at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya show the Full Tilt Poker logo without any URL.
Full Tilt Poker branding will also appear on the car of fellow driver Lucas di Grassi, on both drivers’ overalls and on other elements of the team’s on-track and off-track environment.
The announcement of the deal yesterday concludes discussions dating back to the team’s inception last November, it was revealed.
Virgin Racing chief executive officer Graeme Lowdon said he is “particularly pleased that we have worked hard together with a partner who has seen the team develop from its birth through to our first competitive steps.”
US-facing Full Tilt and rival PokerStars have increased their marketing in Europe in recent months, leading to increasing pressure on Europe-facing operators such as PartyGaming, which yesterday blamed “competition from US-facing sites” for a dip in first quarter poker revenue.
