Cherry set for Malta office move
Operator to bring bulk of enlarged workforce together under one roof, interim CEO to stay on “for a while”

Cherry is preparing to move into an enlarged Malta headquarters this summer as the firm looks to bring the bulk of its workforce under one roof following the recent acquisition of ComeOn, EGR Intel has learned.
The new office in Spinola Bay will house more than 300 of Cherry’s workforce and see its Cherry iGaming, technology division XCaliber and Game Lounge business areas located in the same building for the first time.
At present Cherry iGaming, Game Lounge, and XCaliber are located in different locations on the island.
Speaking to EGR Intel, CEO Anders Holmgren said the acquisition of ComeOn and wider growth of the business meant the firm required a larger office to accommodate its growing workforce.
“This year we will be moving into new offices,” Holmgren confirmed. “ComeOn and Cherry will merge into one and it’s a key area for us this year.
“We have been growing so much, and it is hard in Malta to find a new office. There are a lot of offices that house around 30 people and then you find there is a gap so it’s difficult to find a big office.
“The business units are currently spread out across Malta and we want to bring them all together. All business areas will, however, be operated independently with different boards and management,” he added.
B2B gaming arm Yggdrasil, of which Cherry owns a large majority stake, will continue to be run independently.
Meanwhile the acting CEO, who took over from Fredrik Burvall after he stepped down from his position at the beginning of the year, said the board’s search for a successor is ongoing, and he is likely to remain in the interim role for longer than first anticipated.
“Fredrik’s departure wasn’t expected and so I was given short notice to step into the role,” said Holmgren. “It looks like I will be here for a while.”
