Former William Hill CTO Finbarr Joy joins up with Jamie Hart at Superbet
Joy becomes group CTO and the third ex-Hills staffer to be recruited by the ambitious Romanian operator

Former William Hill CTO Finbarr Joy has agreed to join Superbet, EGR Intel has learned, and by doing so becomes the third ex-Hills senior staffer hired by the ambitious Romanian operator in as many months.
Joy, who left William Hill at the beginning of last year, is currently working out his final weeks at telecommunications company Lebara ahead of his switch to Superbet, where he will become group CTO next month.
The move will see Joy team up with former Hills colleagues Jamie Hart and Peter Morgan, who EGR Intel revealed had been hired by Superbet in February, as the operator looks to build its online and retail presence outside of its home market.
Speaking to EGR Intel this morning, Joy, who will build a Superbet technology hub in central Leeds, said the decision to move to the firm was a simple one, particularly once he had spoken with CEO Sacha Dragic.
“He’s [Dragic] a genuine entrepreneur in an industry that is ripe for something new, and that should be us,” Joy said.
“He’s got a very clear long-term view of building a significant competitor and Superbet’s track record to date is excellent, so they’ve clearly nailed the model in that territory.
“The intent is to keep the online operation as lean as we can – Superbet have done this well so far and have some very good habits so we won’t be changing those,” he added.

Joy also said the chance to work alongside Superbet director of ecommerce Hart, with whom he enjoyed a good working relationship with at Hills, had made the decision to move even more straightforward.
“Jamie being there was very significant for me,” Joy said. “The business-tech interplay is significant for any business and when you already have a working relationship with someone it makes it a hell of a lot more straightforward – we’ve already got alignment there.”
Superbet is one of the main players both online and offline in Romania but is now looking to expand into new markets such as Poland and the Czech Republic, while it also plans to move into Western European territories.
