BetVictor closes “irrelevant” poker room
Sportsbook brand says Microgaming-powered product had suffered a long-term revenue decline

BetVictor has closed its online poker room following years of “declining revenues and activity”, EGR Intel has learned.
The poker tab, which operated on the Microgaming Poker Network was removed from its site on Wednesday, with players asked to withdraw their funds or move them to their sports/casino wallet.
Affiliates will also be paid monies due as long as invoices are submitted by 5 July.
BetVictor head of PR and communications, Charlie McCann, told EGR Intel: “Poker revenues and player activity have been on a significant decline for some time, to the extent that they had become irrelevant to the overall business.
“We continue to focus and invest on our core revenue generating activities of sportsbook and casino which are growing at an accelerated rate.”
The closure comes soon after Microgaming saw another of its skins, PKR, shut down and go into administration in May.
The future of 32Red on the network is also in doubt following the completion of its sale to Kindred, which operates its own poker software.
However, the supplier still boats a long list of poker clients, including Betsson, Betway, Paf and 188BET.
BetVictor and Microgaming were both winners at EGR awards ceremonies on Tuesday, with BetVictor picking up gongs for Sportsbook marketing campaign and Horseracing innovation, while Microgaming won Mobile gaming software.
