Unikrn plots European expansion with new Malta licence
Esports betting operator aims to expand to 80% of Europe, starting in early 2018

Esports betting operator Unikrn has announced plans to go live in up to 80% of Europe after being awarded a Malta Gaming Authority licence.
The firm, which currently offers real-money gaming in the UK and Australia, has partnered with French affiliate brand RPB to launch the Unikrn EU subsidiary.
Unikrn EU will begin rolling out its platform across Europe in early 2018.
“This licence will allow us to expand real-money betting to our already existing fanbase in Europe, so it was a natural progression for us,” Unikrn said in a blog post.
“After all, we own a studio and CSGO team in Berlin, and many of our users have been using Unikoins to engage with our products for years.”
Rahul Sood, CEO of Unikrn, said the company had been working with the MGA for over a year, adding:“Malta has some of the highest regulatory requirements and processes, they are by every measure the gold standard and one of the most respected authorities for responsible and ethical wagering.”
Emmanuel de Rohan, the CEO of RBP’s Zeturf and Zebet sites, added: “RBP has over 300,000 loyal registered customers, and our sites receive over a million unique visitors per month, making us leader in France when it comes to online betting.”
“RBP will be a strong partner to Unikrn to help bring regulated, safe, and legal esports betting in markets across Europe, and we look forward to working with their exceptional team.”
Unikrn also offers virtual currency betting in the US, and is in the midst of a UnikoinGold token sale, which has already raised over $30m in Ethereum in over 112 countries.
The UnikoinGold tokens can be used as currency on the betting site.
The firm has received investment from the likes of Mark Cuban, and says the UnikoinGold token is “well-positioned to become the universal token for use in esports and gaming across the industry”.
