Poll results: PokerStars’ Power Up to run out of batteries
55% of EGR readers think esports-inspired poker game is destined to fail

PokerStars has hailed the launch of its new esports-inspired Power Up but according to 55% of EGR voters, the poker game is not destined for success.
The game combines elements of Texas Hold Em with elements of strategy games like Hearthstone, with players given special powers to use tactically, such as the ability to see the next card in the deck.
Reviews for the new format have so far been mixed. Some have praised the new level of skill required and the added gamification elements, while others have suggested PokerStars should “stick to poker”.
And these reviews were reinforced by the poll results, as 45% of voters tipped the game to take off having enjoyed their experiences so far.
The results may have been influenced by the fact the game had integration issues on its mobile-version, where players complained they could only find games using the search and filter functions.
