Stars Group to launch Czech sportsbook before end of 2017
Firm becomes first international sports betting operator to be awarded a licence
The Stars Group has announced plans to launch its BetStars sportsbook in the Czech Republic after being approved by the Czech State Supervision of Gambling and Lotteries.
The operator became the first online poker and casino operator to be licensed in the Czech Republic back in January.
BetStars.cz will be launched “later this year”, although the operator said it would not offer free bets or its Spin & Bet product thanks to the “provision of its licence”.
The sportsbook last month also began rolling out its new app across various EU markets. The updated product offers the same features but with a “brand new look and feel designed to enhance the overall user experience”.
Betfred boosts retail offering with SSBT expansion
Betfred will increase its offering of Playtech BGT Sports’ (PBS) self-service betting terminals (SSBTs) across its 1,700 strong retail estate, the operator announced this morning.
The operator had an existing deal in place with PBS, which was already extended with an additional 500 SSBTs in June.
Betfred Retail managing director Mark Stebbings said the estate’s existing terminals has produced significant growth from non-football and in-play betting since launch, helping to diversify the firm’s retail offering and deliver incremental revenues.
Betsafe makes horseracing push with Twiston-Davies partnership
Betsafe has signed British jump jockey Sam Twiston-Davies as a brand ambassador, as the Betsson-owned sportsbook tries to establish itself as the “go-to place for horseracing insights”.
The two-year deal will see Twiston-Davies ride in Betsafe branded silks and feature in an upcoming ATL campaign alongside other Betsafe ambassadors.
The jockey will be joined at Betsafe by well-respected presenter Luke Harvey, and together the pair will produce content and interview pieces across Betsafe’s various platforms.
Française des Jeux partners Sportradar for esports betting launch
French operator Française des Jeux (FDJ) has announced the launch of a new free-to-play esports betting product in partnership with sports data provider Sportradar.
FDJ’s sports betting brand’s ParionsSport launched the product earlier this week, offering markets across most of the main international esports competitions with Sportradar’s esports API and Stats Centre.
Sportradar will also deliver its Life Cycle of Odds and Live Odds offerings across all available titles to FDJ, while Sportsbook Cloud, a gold certified partner of Betradar, will provide the web and mobile platform.
