Smarkets starts beta testing ‘SBK’ sportsbook
Operator invites non-exchange users to trial “slick” app with “unrivalled” pricing

Smarkets has started inviting new UK users to beta-test its new sportsbook app, SBK.
The so-called “true price” sportsbook uses exchange pricing, but with a simpler interface with only a back option available.
Users can get a code to test the product at getsbk.com.
“I’m excited to get SBK out in the wild and have more people test it,” said Smarkets CEO Jason Trost.
“Ideally, we want it in the hands of non-exchange users so we can gather feedback and make improvements before a full launch.
“I’m really proud of what the team has achieved in such a short space of time – the app is slick and with its prices coming from our exchange, it offers unrivalled value.”
Users will also be able to share tips and bets with their community thanks to the innovative social element of SBK.
Trost said earlier this year the sportsbook would be used to spearhead Smarkets’ push into the US to help appeal to recreational punters.
“I don’t think there is a difference between an exchange and sportsbook and we plan to prove that with this new product,” Trost told EGR.
“You get the benefit of the exchange with the great price but you don’t get confused by a back and lay price, and don’t have to worry about trading.”
