Online gambling giant makes business decision to close legacy service after 20 years

Bet365 has called time on its legacy telephone betting operation after 20 years of service.
The Stoke-headquartered firm has operated the service since its foundation in 2000, but demand had declined to a point where the service was no longer viable to operate.
A message on bet365’s customer service site confirmed the closure.

Punters with telephone betting accounts are being asked to contact bet365’s customer service line, with all accounts being transferred online.
Bet365 racing commentator Patrick Cooney told Racing Post the service had been discontinued following a steady decline in demand.
“Telephone betting had become such a minimal part of our business that it didn’t justify the staffing levels. Everything is online nowadays,” said Cooney.
