Spotlight Sports Group chief revenue officer takes voluntary redundancy
Michael Griffin follows CMO Louise Agran out the door as business promotes Sam Houlding from within

Michael Griffin will step down from his role as chief revenue officer of Spotlight Sports Group as C-level executives continue to take voluntary redundancy packages.
Griffin will be replaced by Sam Houlding, who will assume the role of chief commercial officer (CCO) having served as the group’s commercial director since October 2018.
Griffin first joined the Racing Post in 2007 as commercial director before moving into the CRO role in 2017.
The former Trinity Mirror (now Reach) executive joins former Spotlight chief marketing officer Louise Agran in taking voluntary redundancy.
Speaking on his decision to step down, Griffin said the wheels had been set in motion before the coronavirus pandemic and it was the right time to part ways.
Griffin said: “After an extended period, it is now time for me to step away from the Spotlight Sports Group and see what the next chapter of my life holds. It’s been more than a job, it has been a way of life.
“However, even in these difficult circumstances with a heavy heart, I have decided the time is right for me to leave Spotlight Sports Group to pursue an exciting new challenge. This wasn’t a decision I have taken lightly but one that has been in planning from pre-Covid,” he added.
Houlding, who has spent more than a decade with the Racing Post parent group, said: “I am thrilled to be taking the role of CCO at Spotlight Sports Group.
“This is an incredibly important time for the business and we are set up to continue our exciting evolution over the coming years thanks to the legacy Mike leaves after changing this business during his time here.
“Whilst Mike has set a very high bar over the years, my aim is to ensure that we continually improve the level of value we can offer and cement Spotlight Sports Group as the leading service provider in the industry,” he added.
