Optimove iGaming Pulse Report: New retention rates for sports bettors up 38% MoM
In a monthly column, Optimove looks at how casino and sports KPIs performed in September 2021

For many of us, September marked a much-needed transition from whatever summer has become to a semblance of climate normality. People could finally breathe again (ish). Our data shows that September-breather attitude happened in igaming activity as well, and practically across the KPI board.
Perhaps we can call it Olympics fatigue. Or maybe it was the early September NFL opening day that generated a late surge in August. Or the normal September drop that comes after football (soccer) kicks off all across Europe. Most likely, it was all of the above.
Having said all that, a closer look at the KPIs shows a YoY increase being just as noticeable.
So what’s happening here? Like most of the things we struggle to tag, we can play the all-encompassing Covid-19 card. It’s true, though. If you remember last September at all, or you’re still in the process of forgetting, the sports world upheaval was at its peak. With no vaccine in sight, soccer leagues in Europe started late, or early, or started and then stopped, or postponed. It was a mess and inevitably affected the overall numbers.
And now, as always, let’s find out how the following KPIs performed in the past month.
