Paysafe lands experienced igaming exec to fill CFO position
Payments giant recruits former Sportradar and Paddy Power veteran Alex Gersh to replace the outgoing Izzy Dawood

Paysafe has appointed industry veteran Alex Gersh as its new chief financial officer (CFO), reporting into relatively new Paysafe CEO Bruce Lowthers, who joined in May.
Gersh joins the payments company after spending over two years as CFO at data supplier Sportradar and will assume the role on 3 October 2022.
Gersh will replace the outgoing Izzy Dawood, who held the position for just over two years.
He has over 25 years of financial leadership under his belt and has held similar roles at car dealership platform Cazoo, as well as NDS Group, Flag Telcom, NextiraOne and Motorola.
Gersh also spent six years with Betfair Paddy Power, with two years as CFO at Betfair prior to the merger of both companies in 2016.
On Gersh’s appointment, Lowthers said: “Alex is a highly talented finance executive with a proven track record of driving growth for the international companies he has helped to lead. I know he will be a real asset to our team as we continue our path to accelerate growth and drive long term value for all our stakeholders.”
Gersh added: “Paysafe has a highly diversified and relevant digital payments offering in the specialised industries it focuses on, including gaming and entertainment.
“I have been fortunate to have worked for some of the biggest brands in these sectors and I very much look forward to bringing my knowledge and insights to my new role at Paysafe and being part of this ambitious company’s future growth story.”
On the outgoing Dawood, Lowthers commented: “I would like to express our sincere thanks to Izzy for his significant contribution to Paysafe during his time with the company and his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities.”
This is the second hire for the payment solutions firm in as many months as last month chief revenue officer Rob Gatto was appointed.
Gatto’s role is to head up its international sales arm, covering a wide range of sectors including igaming, travel and entertainment, cryptocurrency and financial institutions.
