GVC announces Safer Online Gambling Group partnership
Agreement will see development of digital therapy tools for at-risk gamblers

GVC Holdings has announced plans to partner with the Safer Online Gambling Group (SOGG), as part of its “Changing for the Bettor” campaign.
As part of this partnership, GVC will provide funding to SOGG to develop digital therapy tools for individuals showing signs of at-risk gambling.
SOGG is a non-profit established to encourage communication and action between the industry, families affected by gambling, and policy makers, and is currently exploring “collaborative interventions” with the NHS for problem gambling treatment.
The “Changing for the Bettor” campaign was first unveiled in January and comprises seven distinct pillars all relating to responsible gambling. It includes a $5m research project into problem gambling in conjunction with Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital.
Grainne Hurst, GVC’s director of responsible gambling, said it was vital to increase collaboration between operators, regulators and gambling related harm treatment providers, adding that GVC was “very pleased to be able to partner with SOGG and support their development of digital therapy tools to treat problem gambling behaviour.”
As part of this commitment, GVC has pledged to increase its current level of funding for responsible gambling from the GambleAware mandated 0.1% of gross gaming yield per annum to 0.2%.
