Former Gibraltar governor becomes first chair of Entain Foundation
Ed Davis appointed independent chair of non-profit foundation as former Olympian Franziska van Almsick joins as German ambassador

Entain’s not-for profit foundation has confirmed the appointment of former Gibraltar governor Ed Davis as its first independent chairman.
Davis, who served in the armed forces rising to the rank of Lieutenant General, held the governorship as well as serving as commander-in-chief of the peninsula from 2016-2020.
During his military career, he served in the Royal Marines as deputy commander of NATO Land Forces in Izmir, Turkey.
His previous roles have included serving commander 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines and commandant general of the Royal Marines (including commander of UK Amphibious Forces).
In his new role, Davis will advise the foundation’s board of councillors on international and charitable issues.
In addition to the appointment of Davis as chair, the Entain Foundation has confirmed 10-time Olympic medal winning swimmer, Franziska van Almsick, as a new ambassador in Germany.
In her role, van Almsick will promote the foundation’s work and advise on opportunities to invest in sport.
“We are honoured to welcome Ed and Franziska to the Entain Foundation,” Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen said.
“The appointment of such high-calibre individuals is a mark of our ambitions for the foundation’s future. Collectively they bring incredible leadership and organisational skills as well as huge experience in the charitable sector and sporting world,” Nygaard-Andersen added.
Entain has committed to providing funding to the foundation totalling £100m over the next five years to support a range of charities focusing on responsible gambling, diversity in technology, grassroots sport and local community projects.
