FDJ renews foundation for five years with a budget of €25m
The Française des Jeux board renews the Corporate Foundation for a new five-year cycle in 2023

French operator Française des Jeux has allocated a budget of €25m (£20.9m) to its Corporate Foundation for the upcoming five-year cycle following a discussion by the board of directors. This is an increase of 25% compared to the 2018-22 cycle.
The deputy CEO of Française des Jeux (FDJ) and chairman of the foundation, Charles Lantieri, commented on how well the foundation has done in the current period: “Since 2018, a third of the 2,500 employees of the FDJ group have mobilised to accomplish 580 solidarity missions.”
“In total FDJ has provided 7,600 hours for the benefit of partner associations of the foundation.”
Everyone that works with the foundation is asked to support the French National Lottery’s founding aim of promoting solidarity and equal opportunities for society’s vulnerable and less fortunate.
In 2021, the FDJ conducted a survey for the first time to measure the impact it had on the associations and beneficiaries of the projects it supports. The impact study, conducted by EY, revealed that for every €1 of support for associations, earmarked by the FDJ Foundation, the social value that was created was €3.40.
Of those associations surveyed, 97% said they were very satisfied with the benefits provided by the support of FDJ; this was in terms of scaling up programmes or experimenting with new innovative projects. The FDJ Foundation also helped these associations increase their skills and visibility.
The beneficiaries of the foundations were also asked how they felt about the FDJ Foundation’s work. Of those surveyed, 84% felt more motivated at the end of the support, with 78% more confident and 80% more likely to participate in their journey.
This increase in budget will amplify the support provided to associations that work daily to help those in the most vulnerable of circumstances. Lantieri reiterated that this increase in budget will allow the foundation to continue to achieve its goals to help those most in need: “The renewal of the FDJ Foundation for five additional years and its new endowment of €25m, up 25%, demonstrate the importance that FDJ attaches to the action of associations committed to the most vulnerable.”
