William Hill exits continue as CTO Finbarr Joy resigns
Joy follows Online MD Andrew Lee, FD Neil Cooper and sportsbook director Matt Warner out of exit door

William Hill chief technology officer (CTO) Finbarr Joy has joined a growing list of senior figures to leave the operator in recent months after deciding to quit the firm, eGaming Review has learned.
Joy, who has been a driving force behind much of William Hill’s ongoing technological innovation push, is understood to have tendered his resignation last month and will leave the operator later this year.
Leeds-based Joy was originally appointed head of technology in November 2012 before taking up his current CTO role the following year. Prior to joining Hills Joy worked in senior technology and IT roles at solicitors Goldsmith Williams and BT.
A spokesperson for William Hill said a search for a direct replacement would not take place, instead a team restructure would be completed by its newly appointed group chief information officer (CIO) Kevin O’Connor.
O’Connor, who previously served as CIO at Paddy Power, will join the William Hill executive team on 18 January as a replacement for Phil Moyes, who will switch to the role of Online CIO.
Earlier today William Hill announced its digital MD, Andrew Lee, would also leave the company later this year and will be replaced by its current director of corporate development and innovation, Cripsin Nieboer, on an interim basis.
News of today’s exits follow a raft of senior departures from William Hill in recent months, including director of gaming innovation James Curwen, who has moved to Gamesys, and director of sportsbook operations Matt Warner, who will make the move to Coral following a period of gardening leave.
Last year the operator’s chief marketing officer Kristof Fahy – who has since joined rival operator Ladbrokes – also left after more than five years at the firm, while group finance director Neil Cooper joined residential property development company Barratt Developments in late 2015.
