Monthly betting revenue round-up: PA enjoys record month while NJ remains top
Nevada continues to feel impact of in-person registration as key betting state slips to third spot

Pennsylvania reported a record month for sports betting during January as handle reached $348.9m and revenue doubled month-on-month to $22.8m.
Despite the gains made in the Keystone State, neighboring New Jersey took the crown in terms of revenue by securing $53.6m on the back of $540.1m in handle.
Meanwhile, Nevada came in third with revenue of $20.1m as the regulator, for the first time, revealed that mobile apps accounted for a 56% share of sports betting revenue. In terms of handle, mobile took a 49% slice.
The state’s more even revenue split between online and retail compared with other states reflects its culture of in-person betting and the clustering of sportsbooks in Las Vegas, which attracts some 50 million visitors a year.
By comparison, mobile accounted for 87% of handle in New Jersey over the course of January.
Indiana continues to sit in fourth place with revenue of $12.9m, while Iowa slipped behind Rhode Island with revenue of $3.2m as in-person registration in the Hawkeye State impacted the bottom line.
A recent study by boutique research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming and trade group iDEA Growth reported 76% of bettors believe they should be able to create an online account without having to visit a land-based property.
Finally, Mississippi’s revenue slumped 81% month-on-month after major pay-outs to bettors.
