PointsBet granted Colorado license as regulator sticks to May launch
Colorado regulator to review launch plans with industry stakeholders in coming weeks but will award licenses

PointsBet has been granted a sports betting license in Colorado as the state continues to prepare for a May launch despite a lack of sport in the US.
The operator, which opened a technology hub in Denver last year, has been issued with two-years online and sports betting operator licenses by the Colorado Gaming Control Commission.
Its partner in the state Double Eagle Hotel and Casino was also issued with an operator’s license to launch retail betting in H2 19.
PointsBet is also expecting to launch its app in the state in the second half of the year.
Colorado Gaming Commission director Dan Hartman told EGR NA this week that licenses would continue to be awarded while the commission reviewed launch plans with stakeholders in the coming weeks.
“We don’t know where it’s going to be in a day and a month or five weeks from now,” Hartman said.
“So I think as we move into these uncharted waters we’ll certainly be working with those folks in order to say do we want to go live and almost treat it as a soft launch, or do we put it off?”
“That’s a conversation, I think, for early April, as we roll it out and as we talk to our leadership in state government,” he added.
DraftKings and theScore also received betting licenses in the state earlier in the month.
