BoyleSports adds CTO to head of trading hire
Operator confirms David Burgin will head up trading team and appoints Sean Convery as technology chief

BoyleSports has confirmed former Ladbrokes head of football David Burgin will become the Irish operator’s new head of trading in a double hire which has also seen the appointment of a new chief technology officer.
On Tuesday eGaming Review revealed Burgin had quit Ladbrokes in favour of a move to BoyleSports and today a spokesperson for the firm told eGR Burgin would replace former head of trading Jonathan Wright when he begins his new role in January.
Burgin will relocate from London to Dundalk where he will join another new recruit in the shape of chief technology officer Sean Convery, who is set to join the firm next month from Irish telecommunications company Digiweb Group.
Convery, who has been CIO at Digiweb for two-and-a-half years, has been hired as the long-term permanent replacement for former CTO Keith O’Loughlin, who left the firm to join Gala Coral in May 2014.
BoyleSports chief executive John Boyle said the CTO position had remained vacant for more than a year in order to search the market for the perfect candidate, and was confident they found the right man.
“I am delighted to welcome Sean to the Boylesports team,” Boyle said. “When it comes to ensuring that online customers enjoy an excellent experience, even during high-traffic events such as Cheltenham and the Grand National, no bookmaker beats BoyleSports [and] I’m sure Sean will help maintain that track record” he added.
The double hire comes on the back of a new office launch in Gibraltar where in June the firm appointed former Mfuse CEO Marcus Wareham as head of product marketing and ex-Betfair head of conversion Liron Warhaftig as head of customer experience.
