Punters.com.au diversifies with Greyhound Recorder acquisition
News Corp-owned affiliate brand ties up deal for one of Australia’s leading greyhound racing websites

News Corp-owned affiliate site Punters.com.au today sewed up the acquisition of Australia’s oldest greyhound racing media brand, The Greyhound Recorder.
The Greyhound Recorder, described as similar to the UK’s Racing Post, has been a weekly publication since 1938 but shifted to a sole focus on digital in 2018.
Punters.com.au CEO Ben Bloomfield said a key component of the deal was the opportunity to broaden the reach for the greyhound industry from a form and news perspective.
Bloomfield said: “It’s a great result and we’re looking forward to showcasing greyhound racing to a whole new audience at Punters – it’s exciting times.
“The acquisition of the Greyhound Recorder only strengthens our commitment to the racing industry and to now branch into greyhound racing, given its huge following and attraction as a wagering product, is something the team at Punters.com.au is very excited about.
“The big winners will be our customers through the integration of the two codes onto the one platform. It’s a great fit,” he added.
The acquisition is the second Punters.com.au purchase in six months after the Australian betting business bought Racenet.com.au in November.
News UK officially launched its Sun Racing affiliate brand during Cheltenham Festival in March.
