Tipico suspends affiliate programme
German sports betting giant enacts quota term on marketing partners with immediate effect

German operator Tipico has suspended its affiliate programme with immediate effect.
The sports betting giant has updated the affiliate page on its official website explaining the affiliate programme has been suspended until further notice, while no new registrations will be considered.
EGR understands the firm has enacted its quota term on all affiliates, while industry commentators have suggested the move was designed to eliminate overheads as the operator struggles to make up for a lack of sporting events during the coronavirus crisis. It also boasts a large retail presence, with betting shops closed indefinitely across its key markets.
Tipico counts several companies in EGR Marketing’s Power Affiliates list as partners, including this year’s highest climber, KaFe Rocks.
TAG Media director Tom Galanis said: “While it is inevitably true that the private equity-backed business with a strong retail presence is struggling more than most, to use the crisis facing the world to pull the rug from right under business partners is frankly disgraceful.”
EGR has contacted Tipico for comment.
