Five minutes with…Andrea Foley of The Pools

Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?

My job is to make the relationship between The Pools and its affiliate partners as seamless as possible. It’s important to understand how The Pools campaigns can best perform on each affiliates’ platform and to also agree on targets to suit both parties. I like that the affiliate network we have built is very personable which makes it much easier. Whether it’s a brief update on Skype or face-to-face at an event, it’s always good to talk.

Q. If you could give one piece of advice to a partnerships manager, what would it be?

Spreadsheets – you can never have too many! For me, they are the best way to organise my work and to stay on top of everything from the partners that we work with to the number of clicks, sign-ups and conversions that each is generating month in, month out.

Q. Who would play you in the movie about your life?

Sandra Bullock. Most of her roles are women faced with a challenge that they always manage to overcome. Of course, this is always done with a bit of chaos and a lot of fun when you least expect it.

Q. What’s your karaoke song of choice?

I’m an awful singer so I’m not a big karaoke fan. However, after a couple of cocktails I can usually be persuaded to give a rendition of 70s classic ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor. Just make sure to cover your ears if you happen to be with me.

Q. Which one thing can’t you live without?

My watch. I’ve always worn one and I feel lost without it.

Q. Who would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with?

Morgan Freeman. I mean, that voice… you could never get tired of listening to him and he’d certainly keep me calm if I started to panic.

Q. Where would you time travel to and why?

I’d love to be a part of the VE Day celebrations when everyone was excited and feeling positive that life was going to be good again after the atrocities of the war.

Q. What is your favourite TV programme?

Escape to the Country. Some of the homes featured on the programme are truly amazing and are usually located in beautiful countryside, often in places that I’ve never even heard of.

Q. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Binge-watching Sky Witness dramas. I’m currently working my way through Station 19 and absolutely love it.

Q. If you won the lottery, what would you spend the money on?

A house in the country with big wardrobes that I could fill with lots of shoes. I’d also make a large donation to Alzheimer’s Research.

Q. Name one place everyone should visit before they die.

Maasai Mara in Kenya. I went on safari there and it was amazing. For me, there is no other place on the planet quite like it.

Andrea Foley has more than 25 years of experience working in marketing and communications across several industries. In 2018, she joined The Pools as partner manager coordinating regional and national media campaigns for the operator. Her current role is partner marketing manager within the affiliate department.
