Playtech wins Platform of the Year at eGR B2B Awards

Playtech was crowned Platform of the Year at last night’s prestigious eGaming Review B2B Awards ceremony, which also saw the international supplier win in three other hard-fought categories.

As well as retaining the highly competitive platform gong, eGR‘s panel of judges awarded Playtech the prizes for RNG Casino Supplier, Bingo Supplier and the coveted Multi-channel Supplier of the Year.

“We’re delighted to have won four awards – more than any of our competitors – and, in particular, to be recognised for our pioneering work in Omni-channel, product, platform and software development,” Shimon Akad, Playtech COO, said.

Other big winners on the night included NetEnt, which took home three awards, and OpenBet, Microgaming and SafeCharge which won two awards apiece.

OpenBet retained its Sports Betting Supplier of the Year award for an impressive sixth consecutive year, with judges highlighting its continued dominance of the sector and reaction to the evolving needs of its client base.

“We have enjoyed an incredible year so far, with better-than-ever platform performance, thriving partnerships and some hugely significant deals in the pipeline,” said OpenBet CEO Jeremy Thompson-Hill. “Winning these awards is fantastic recognition of our achievements and the effort that everyone has put in across the business.”

SafeCharge dominated the competitive payments categories, scooping both the Innovation in Payments Solutions and overall Payments Company of the Year awards.

The firm’s CEO David Avgi said the awards were “true recognition of SafeCharge’s contribution to the online gaming industry”.

NetEnt was once again a dominant force in casino and mobile casino in particular, winning the Slot Provider, Mobile Supplier and Innovation in Mobile awards.

The judging panel cited the quality of NetEnt’s development and broad range of content as reasons why the firm was a worth winner in each category.

Microgaming, meanwhile, beat off stiff competition from the likes of Playtech and Relax Gaming to take home both of eGR’s poker awards.

The supplier was named Poker Network of the Year and Poker Software of the Year, with its efforts to improve poker ecology and attract more recreational players to its network particularly impressing the judges.

The hotly-contested Software Rising Star award went to casino supplier Yggdrasil Gaming, a company which has announced a series of client wins and posted a 156% increase in year-on-year revenues in the first three months of 2015.

Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO of Yggdrasil Gaming, said he was “immensely proud” to win the award. “The eGR B2B Awards are the Oscars of the gaming industry and to win one in the first year we’ve applied is more than we could have wished for,” he said.
