Playtech expands Gibraltar presence with new office
The supplier has hired a host of new tech staff and set up an innovation lab at its World Trade Centre headquarters

Playtech has expanded its presence in Gibraltar with a new World Trade Centre office that unifies a number of departments previously spread across different offices in Europe.
COO for the supplier, Shimon Akad, told local news channel GBC a host of new tech staff had been hired to accommodate the growing business.
Akad said: “There’s a large opportunity here because there is a lot of talent in Gibraltar, being in the industry for so many years, for us to recruit internally.”
The new office accommodates 150 staff members, with many of the new employees recruited locally.
Playtech head of communications James Bennett told EGR: “The office functions, among others, include operational, projects, architecture, game designs and the innovations lab.
“The Gib office complements and unifies several functions that were previously spread across several offices in Europe into a single location that is more operationally efficient.”
Previously, the firm had a relatively small presence on the Rock, with a commercial team, business service department and iPoker operations split between two offices in Waterport Place and Europort.
