PokerStars launches prepaid MasterCard
Online poker giant teams up with payment processor SafeCharge to launch StarsCard to UK players
PokerStars has joined forces with payment processor SafeCharge to launch a branded prepaid MasterCard to players in the UK.
The StarsCard can be funded using vouchers available at retail outlets, bank transfer or debit card, and allows players to deposit and withdraw funds directly into their bank account.
SafeCharge said the StarsCard offers players a single point of deposit and offered additional features for cashing out, spending and sending money to friends and family.
The StarsCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted.
The StarsCard has initially been rolled out to PokerStars’ UK player base, with plans to launch in other international markets “in the near future”.
The launch of the StarsCard comes as PokerStars continues its transformation into a multi-vertical technology giant under new owners Amaya.
Last month Amaya announced it had begun rolling out its PokerStars sportsbook in certain markets, having launched a casino offering earlier in the year.
Amaya CEO David Baazov also announced the Toronto-based firm plans to launch a daily fantasy sports platform ahead of the NFL season in September
