Slots Tracker: Starburst steams ahead to top spot ending Play’n GO dominance
NetEnt title overtakes rival in fiercely fought contest as Pragmatic Play dominates top ten

Play’n GO’s seven-month stranglehold of top spot in the iGaming Tracker rankings has come to an end at the hands of long-time rival NetEnt.
NetEnt’s Starburst has wrested first place from Play’n GO’s Book of Dead for the first time since Q4 2021 in a major shift at the business end of the rankings.
While Book of Dead slipped into second, Big Bass Bonanza and Sweet Bonanza from Pragmatic Play retained third and fourth place, respectively.
Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus jumped three places to finish in fifth place in May.
Fellow stablemate titles Wolf Gold and Bigger Bass Bonanza slipped once place each to seventh and eighth, respectively.
There was one new entrant in the May rankings in the shape of Gameburger Studios’ 777 Surge, which finished in 17th.
There were two re-entries to the top 20, with Blueprint Gaming’s Eye of Horus and Triple Edge Studios’ Ancient Fortunes Poseidon Megaways returning to the fold.
iGaming Tracker also detailed the top-ranking new slots released in April and May.
Gameburger Studios’ 777 Surge ended up top of the pile when it came to new games, having been released on 17 April.
Wild Link Cleopatra by Spin Games finished second, while Red Tiger’s Dragons Clusterbuster came third.
The game with the latest release date to secure a spot in the top 20 was Play’n GO’s Kings Mask (released 5 May) after finishing in 15th place.
The iGaming Tracker has changed its methodology of data collection and grading of games since October 2020 to give a fairer and broader reflection of the rankings.
Games are ranked by their position throughout the month on more than 500 of the largest casino sites in Europe. Only the ‘main’ page of the casinos is taken into account and the top 10 most prominent positions on those pages.
The previous number of sites the iGaming Tracker took into account was just 50.
The iGaming Tracker compiles the slots rankings by tracking casino sites across more than 25 European countries including the UK, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Norway and Denmark.
Each casino page is tracked every day over the month as well as which game occupies each position. Each position is weighted so the top positions on the page have a higher weighting than the positions on the bottom of the page.
Likewise, the pages, sites and countries are weighted to give a fairer view on the success of casino games.
Table games such as roulette and blackjack are excluded from the rankings, as are live casino games.
