Genesis Global CEO and co-founder departs amid UK market exit
Ariel Reem announces his exit as the Malta-headquartered operator halts UK player registrations across its active brands

Genesis Global Limited CEO and co-founder Ariel Reem has announced he is leaving the operator after eight years at the Malta-headquartered firm.
Reem founded the operator alongside Stephen Murphy and James Harrison in 2014 and took to LinkedIn to share the news of his departure.
He said: “It is time to move on to the next challenge/adventure. Over the years, I saw how ideas were turned into reality and how impossible or extremely hard tasks were overcome with perseverance and passion.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been witnessing people develop themselves and, many times, breaking through their own perceived boundaries. To this end, I was and still am inspired by all of you. I hope to see you around.”
Reem did not hint at what he would do next and did not mention the firm’s apparent withdrawal from the UK market.
Speculations surrounding Genesis’ possible exit from the UK are being made as attempts to register for a new account at the operator’s 14 active brands return an error message.
The message states: “Unfortunately, you are registering from a country that we do not accept bets from; we will not be able to proceed with your registration.”
Genesis has not responded to a request for comment on the withdrawal by EGR at the time of writing.
The operator’s apparent exit comes two years after it was fined £3.8m by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) after an investigation found a series of social responsibility and money laundering shortcomings. failings?
Genesis Global also had its UK licence briefly suspended in July 2020 after the UKGC identified a number of compliance issues. The licence was reinstated following an appeal and investigation into the firm’s compliance practices.
