Denmark Q3 revenue shows modest growth despite online casino jump
Industrywide sports betting and land-based operations flat year-on-year as regulator releases latest data

The Danish gambling market has returned a 2.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for Q3 2022.
The total market GGR jumped from DKK1.66bn (GDP) in Q3 2021 to DKK1.7bn in the reporting period as online casino revenue drove the quarter.
Online casino revenue jumped 9.7% (YoY) to DKK721m during Q3 2022, up from DKK657m in Q3 2021.
Breaking the vertical down, online slots machines represented more than three quarters of GGR, with roulette and blackjack the second and third most popular game types.
Sports betting revenue remained flat at DKK576m compared to DKK577m in Q3 2021.
The majority of the sports bets were placed via mobile (62%), with the remainder staked in retail settings (17.2%) and via desktop (20.8%).
Elsewhere, the regulator’s data highlighted how Denmark’s land-based operations failed to impress during the third quarter.
Retail slot machines returned DKK298m, which was a slide of 10.5% YoY from DKK333m.
Land-based casino revenue remained at DKK98m, the same as Q3 2021.
The number of people registering for ROFUS, the Danish self-exclusion scheme, totalled 36,880 in September 2022. Of this total, 24,065 people chose to self-exclude permanently.
