
Betway retains German presence with sports betting licence extension
Super Group-owned operator has received an extension of its sportsbook licence from the Regional Council in Darmstadt


Betway has been awarded an extension to its sportsbook licence in Germany after it received approval from the Regional Council in Darmstadt.
The licence extension will see Betway continue to offer its services in the market despite a slew of operators pulling out Germany owning to the strong regulatory headwinds in the region.
The Super Group-owned brand is a prominent sponsor of several high-profile sports teams in Germany.
The portfolio of deals includes a number of sides in the Bundesliga, including Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen and Schalke 04.
Betway also has a number of partners in tennis and is the official betting partner at the Boss Open, Terra Wortmann Open and the Hamburg Open.
The firm has also opened an office in Düsseldorf with the aim of continuing growth in the region and making finding talent in Germany easier.
