Poll results: Lack of creativity hampering egaming growth
Majority of respondents to eGR poll say operators need to step outside their comfort zones
Online gaming operators need to be more creative in order to adapt to the changing face of the egaming industry, according to more than half of respondents to this weeks’ eGaming Review poll.
The statement comes after Gamesys “ a huge success story in online casino “ withdrew its real-money bingo and slots from Facebook, adding weight to the argument that egaming is not accustomed to leaving its comfort zone.
The firm, along with the rest of the industry, cited the potential of adapting traditional verticals for a social media audience as ‘game-changer’ but those hopes have yet to become reality.
With this in mind, this weeks’ poll asked whether a lack of innovation was preventing the industry from capitalizing on new opportunities and expanding markets.
And exactly half of all respondents said growth was being hampered by a lack of creativity, while 28% agreed but said there were signs things were starting to change.
However 21% said the need to innovate is exaggerated and operators should instead focus on developing and improving its core products.
While progress may be slow, the sector does continue to innovate, not least within in-play betting and increasingly in poker through fast-fold variants and social integrations, with the best performers rewarded at the upcoming eGR Marketing and Innovation awards on June 17.
