Ladbrokes continues pre-World Cup mobile expansion
Operator rolls out Windows and Blackberry support and hints at more to come prior to next week's World Cup kick-off
Ladbrokes has rolled out new platforms for its Mobenga mobile app in time for next week’s football World Cup, and hinted more features could be launched before the tournament starts.
“We are in the last stages of World Cup preparations are looking forward to leading innovation through the tournament,” Andrew Bagguley, director of mobile and devices at Ladbrokes, said.
Windows and Blackberry smartphone users will be now able to access the full Mobenga mobile product for the first time since its launch last December.
Ladbrokes has also added PayPal to its list of mobile payment options a month after it contracted payments provider SafeCharge, catering for the 30% of its mobile customers the operator claims have PayPal as its primary method of payment.
The latest update comes six months after the operator began to migrate customers over to its Playtech-powered Mobenga sportsbook app, during which time Ladbrokes has recorded much improved performance on the channel.
And the operator has hinted that further updates could come before the tournament starts next Thursday with a number of features designed to improve customer engagement currently in the pipeline.
“Speed, access and availability of service is paramount to us, as is the very clear focus to embrace new platforms and partnerships such as we have with Microsoft Windows 8.1 and IE11,” Bagguley said.
