Playtech merges online and retail accounts
Coral first to go live with "industry first" solution which enables customers to place bets online and in shop through a single account

Software supplier Playtech has introduced an “industry first” multi-channel customer account enabling punters to place bets online, in-shop and via mobile through a single account.
UK-facing operator Coral is the first to incorporate the online-to-retail betting system, which has seen Playtech’s IMS back office system synchronised with retail operations, through its “Coral Connect” programme.
eGaming Review last month reported on the Coral Connect card which acts as a single wallet enabling customers to deposit or withdraw funds both online and in store.
Prospective customers can now open a multi-channel account in any of Coral’s 1,800 UK shops and use that account to place further bets online and through mobile devices.
According to Playtech, the multi-channel account will be rolled out to additional licensees in the near future and creates numerous cross-sell opportunities such as making in-shop customers aware they can continue to play games online.
“The synchronisation of online and retail systems is a significant technological achievement,” Shay Segev, Playtech COO, said.
“It illustrates our commitment to providing a complete multi-channel experience to Playtech licensees, who can in turn provide their customers with the ultimate player experience across all platforms.” Shay Segev, Playtech COO, said.
Coral chief executive Andy Hornby added that the multi-channel development had been a “key focus” for the company and praised Playtech’s role in the programme.
