Gala Bingo releases new tablet app
Release timed to coincide with Christmas rush as operator agrees deal with bingo supplier Virtue Fusion

Gala Coral has launched a new galabingo.com app for iPad devices as the Gibraltar-licensed operator looks to take advantage of a predicted one million UK tablet sales this Christmas.
Co-developed by the Gala Interactive product team and Playtech, the operator said the new iOS app had been designed to be intuitive to the tablet user while also boasting the most comprehensive range of bingo and slots games on the market. An Android compatible version is due to be released early in the New Year.
All the content from the mobile app has been transferred across to the tablet while there are also plans to introduce new bingo products in February after striking a deal with Playtech subsidiary and bingo software supplier Virtue Fusion.
The project has been headed up by Gala Interactive product and technology director Itay Fisher, who arrived from Playtech in June where he had been responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the Gala Coral rollout to Playtech products.
With tablets expected to top many Christmas wish lists this year, UK electronics company Currys & PC World has predicted it will shift around one million tablets during December, outselling desktop PCs for the first time in the process.
“It was vital [to release the app prior to Christmas] as we know over one million new tablets will be bought at Christmas and our tablet player base is growing rapidly and want to have the best player experience,” Fisher told eGaming Review.
“Gala Bingo is currently the fastest growing bingo site in the UK and we believe our focus on mobile and tablet is driving growth,” he added. “It is a huge push for us and ensuring that we get the full range and breadth of content as fast as possible is key to further growth.”
Fisher also revealed that further tablet releases are to be expected with work on a new galacasino.com tablet app currently underway.
The news comes after Gala Coral recently re-launched its desktop site while also investing heavily in a TV advertising campaign which featured Enzo Calzaghe, the father and trainer of former world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe.
