BetVictor signs up OPTA in World Cup push
Sports data provider to supply operator with in-running stats as part of a wider website upgrade project

BetVictor has signed up sports data provider OPTA as the operator looks to enhance its online football offering in the run up to next year’s World Cup.
The deal comes as BetVictor implements a series of website ugrades which includes a redesign of its football coupons, enhanced market groupings and a soon-to-be released upgrade of its slots-style Spincast football bet “ which will also be made available via a new mobile app.
The operator had previously used the services of OPTA during the 2012 European Championships but has now agreed a one-year term.
BetVictor head of sportsbook Eoin Ryan told eGaming Review the agreement with OPTA was made with next summer’s football tournament firmly in mind.
“With the World Cup six months away we will be looking closely at football improvements and we have signed an agreement with OPTA to that end,” Ryan said.
“We are currently exploring how we can use their info within our web and mobile channels but it’s a little too early to say exactly what we will do.”
As part of the same upgrade project, the operator has also amended both the style and position of login and customer account boxes while future plans include improvements to its in-play area early next year.
Last month, BetVictor signed a two-year deal with Betfair-owned horse racing information provider Timeform as part of a wider revamp of the operator’s horse racing product.
Timeform became BetVictor’s sole source of racing form and provides data on all UK, Ireland and Dubai races, ending BetVictor’s previous arrangement with Racing Post, and Ryan said customers should expect changes to this new service in the coming months.
“Timeform V2 will also follow on next year, where we will expose more Timeform data and change the way video and audio is presented,” he said.
The software developments, which have all been carried out in-house, follow the release of the operator’s new mobile site in October.
