Malta's LGA suspends two licensees
PIVGame and Turfez have licences suspended and are forced to halt all gaming operations
Malta’s gambling regulator has ordered two of its licensees to immediately suspend their gaming operations.
The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) announced yesterday the licenses of PIVGame and Turfez have been suspended as of 25 November, however did not specify the reasons why and said the two decisions were unrelated.
Both companies have been directed to suspend all gaming operations including to cease player registration and further deposits, not offer any games falling under the LGA’s licences, provide registered players access to their accounts and to settle all players’ balances.
The regulator added that neither company is permitted to conduct gaming by means of distance communications under its LGA licence.
According to its website, PIVGaming offers operators a turnkey solution for operators, which includes a gaming licence, games, CRM and reporting tools.
Turfez, meanwhile, operates a primarily French-facing online sportsbook site.
The LGA was under pressure earlier this year after failing to reimburse all players which had deposited with another of its licensees, Everleaf Gaming.
Despite the regulator suspending all remote gaming licences held by Everleaf, the Times of Malta reported that online poker customers accused the LGA of “gross negligence” claiming they have lost thousands of euros to the site.
