Betfair gets set for New Jersey launch
UK-listed operator launches BetfairNJ Twitter feed and holding page for gaming site
Betfair has begun preparing for an imminent launch into the New Jersey egaming market with a low-key marketing push comprising a new Twitter account and holding page.
The new website, using the LetsPlayNJ.com and BetfairNJ.com URLs, has gone live stating “Betfair is coming to New Jersey”. A Twitter feed under the BetfairNJ moniker has also been set up.
Betfair does however make clear that the availability of its online casino and gaming offering is contingent on gaining a licence to operate from the state’s regulator.
The New Division of Gaming Enforcement has confirmed the market will go live as planned on 26 November and has awarded the first operator licence to the Boyd Gaming-owned Borgata casino.
The move comes despite Betfair not yet publicly confirming its partnership with the Atlantic City-based Trump Plaza casino, which eGaming Review exclusively revealed in July.
Under the terms of the agreement Betfair has effectively paid upfront to operate under the casino’s licence and plans to launch an egaming platform complete with third-party casino and poker software.
eGR understands Betfair will license casino games from the likes of GameAccount Network and SHFL, and poker software via Amaya-owned Ongame.
Betfair declined to comment when contacted for this story.
