Lord Moonie stands down from bwin.party board
Resignation of non-executive director follows further board changes in recent weeks
Lord Moonie has stepped down as a non-executive director from bwin.party’s board with immediate effect, in what is the third change to the company’s board in the last month.
Lord Moonie joined the PartyGaming board in December 2007, before becoming a senior independent director nine months later and remaining on the board following the company’s merger with bwin Interactive in March 2011.
Prior to his time at PartyGaming, Moonie was the Member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy between 1987 and 2005, holding the position of under secretary for state at the Ministry of Defence between January 2000 and June 2003.
His departure follows the exit of two other non-executive directors announced last month, which has seen the size of the board reduced to nine.
Non-executive directors Tim Bristow and Geoff Baldwin resigned on 23 September, with Bristow having served on the board of PartyGaming much like Lord Moonie.
“Lewis has made a significant contribution to both the development of PartyGaming and bwin.party. We thank him for his tireless efforts over the last six years and wish him well for the future,” Simon Duffy, chairman of bwin.party, said.
“This change confirms to our previously stated aim to reduce the size of the board, whilst maintaining compliance with the UK Corporate Governance Code’s recommendation on the balance of independent and non-independent directors,” Duffy added.
Of the nine directors comprising the Gibraltar-licensed operator’s board, four are independent and four non-independent, with Duffy completing the line-up.
