Ladbrokes' new Spanish site set for October launch
Operator's Spanish-facing Sportium brand set for 1 October launch with Mexican version to follow in 2014
Ladbrokes will launch its Spanish online sportsbook brand Sportium next month as it ramps up its international presence.
eGamingReview understands the online operation, which will offer both sportsbetting and casino products, is scheduled to launch on 1 October.
Ladbrokes, which currently trades as LBApuestas in Spain, announced plans to overhaul its Spanish online business launch during its H1 2013 results call earlier this month.
A spokesperson for the operator confirmed to eGR that the launch remains scheduled for H2, but could not confirm the exact start date.
Since 2009 the company has operated Spanish retail brand Sportium in a 50/50 joint-venture with gaming operator Cirsa. The pair are now in the final stages of merging the three businesses into one multi-channel retail and online proposition under the Sportium brand.
The operator has recently confirmed the Sportium brand will be launched in Mexico in early 2014, while it established Ladbrokes Australia earlier this month following its acquisition of Australian sportsbetting company Gaming Investments for £13m.
