Coral Interactive is to launch of Coral Sportsplay, a social sportsbook developed by 2Bet2 operator Socialitize, Social Casino Intelligence can exclusively reveal.
The Facebook app will allow players to place virtual currency wagers on real and virtual sporting events, as well competing against other users through tournaments and head-to-head challenges. It will go live before the end of the month, with a provisional launch date set for Monday 25 February.
“We know that many of our customers, both current and potential, are keen Facebook users,” Coral Interactive marketing director Matt Prevost explained.
“Giving them a Coral social gaming option on Facebook allows them to try their betting skills and test their sports knowledge without risk.”
The game has been developed by Socialitize, a Gibraltar based social sports operator, which runs the 2Bet2 app across Facebook, iOS and Android, attracting around 5,900 DAU on the social network. The company was acquired by Toronto-listed investment firm Cairo Resources, after the two firms finalised a share exchange agreement in January this year.
Socialitize chief executive Adriaan Brink described Coral’s decision to select his company as its social betting partner as an endorsement of the quality of the 2Bet2 product.
“We have invested considerable expertise and resources in the development of our unique and exciting Facebook social sports game,” Brink said. “We are delighted that Coral have adopted 2BET2 Social Betting as the base for their chosen Facebook app and we see this as an endorsement of the product that we have developed.”
Brink went on to reveal that conversations between the companies first began around October last year, and that “one of the goals” for Coral Sportsplay is to act as an acquisition funnel for Coral’s real-money offering. The companies will collaborate further over the course of 2013, developing a series of mobile social apps.
