PokerStars launches first Facebook poker app
Freeplay offering includes only fast-fold poker game on social network.

Isle of Man-licensed operator PokerStars has launched a freeplay poker offering on Facebook, its first app to go live on the social network.
The company suggests the app mimics its play-money dot.net client, allowing players to use already-accumulated play-money balances across both platforms.
It also includes a version of Zoom, which Stars claims to be the only fast-fold poker offering on Facebook, and 25 unlockable achievements.
The app is currently in beta, though at the time of writing a number of tables were running and Facebook lists the app as having 100 monthly active users.
PokerStars.net currently ranks second on Pokerscout’s play-money table, behind Zynga, which is poised to launch its own real-money offering Zynga Plus Poker with bwin.party this year.
The app is the first from the operator to offer poker gameplay on Facebook, however it already has a PokerStars.tv app on the social network, while its BOOMPlayer hand replayer allows players to upload hands to Twitter.
Meanwhile Stars has also announced that Hippodrome in PokerStars and Microgaming deals will open on 4 March.
It will be open for 24 hours a day, and is set to launch a £250 buy-in tournament as part of a low buy-in series from the operator’s UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) brand.
UKIPT President and Head of Live Rooms Europe Kirsty Thompson said: “The Hippodrome Casino is the premier casino destination in London. Establishing this permanent PokerStars LIVE room will give more players the opportunity to play cash poker with the high-quality player experience that PokerStars is known for.””¨
