FDJ breaks 12bn turnover mark in 2012
Bulk of revenues in lottery with nearly 400m online sales recorded.

France’s former monopoly la Française Des Jeux (FDJ) has broken the 12bn turnover mark for the first time, up 6.1% last year compared to 2011, the company has announced this morning.
The country’s national lottery provider saw the bulk of its revenues generated in its dominant product vertical with 10.7bn from the sale of lottery products, mainly via retail outlets, while its sports betting products saw a 27% rise in turnover on 2011 surpassing 1.4bn last year.
FDJ generated 388m in online sales from its sports betting, lottery, scratch card games and Bingo Live products with nearly 1 million players and 4 million unique visitors per month accessing its FDJ.fr homepage.
Christophe Blanchard-Dignac, CEO, said: “Our 26 million players continue to enjoy our network of nearly 34,300 points of sale; sales in the network represented 11.7bn and online sales near 400m. In 2013, the year which marks the 80th anniversary of the creation of the National Lottery and 20 years of [the] FDJ Foundation, we will continue to offer an innovative, fun and responsible [service], while strengthening our commitment to the company.”
In September last year FDJ’s British and French-based subsidiaries LVS and Lotsys successfully bid for the Israeli Sports Betting Board (ISBB) online betting tender. Initially an online only deal, with LVS and Lotsys supplying the board with an internet betting system, there is an option to extend the agreement to cover both retail and online.
It was the first major announcement from LVS “ acquired by FDJ in March 2010 “ since it appointed former Ladbrokes director of information systems Nick Dutton as its new programme director in March last year.
